Complex partial seizures occur because of an electrical disturbance, which usually occurs within the frontal lobe region of the brain. Complex partial seizures spread within the brain and are not usually localized to one area of the brain. Complex Partial seizures cause more impairment of memory, awareness, or consciousness than simple partial seizures. Behaviors such as lip- smacking, chewing, swallowing, or undressing oneself are symptoms of a complex partial seizure.
