OTR stands for on the record. A social security disability or ssi disability claimant whose case is at the hearing office may request an on the record review. If the claimant's medical status is particularly compelling (this would be validated via the submission of evidence to the hearing office by either the claimant or their advocate or representative), an on the record review may be granted.
There are two possible outcomes for an on the record review:
- One: an on the record decision may be made (this is, by definition, an approval for disability benefits).
- Two: a decision will not be made and a disability hearing will, subsequently, be scheduled at some point in the future.
