An employer may dispute a workmans comp claim and if this is the case, after the claim is rejected by the employer's carrier, the matter may be taken to either the industrial commission, workers compensation commission, or workers compensation board, depending on how it is referred to in the state in which you live.
If your employer decides to dispute your workmans comp claim, the state workers compensation board (or the state's industrial commission) will normally hold a hearing to arbitrate the dispute. In the event that arbitration favors the employer, one or several appeals will generally be available to the claimant.
