Once you have attended your administrative law judge hearing, your disability file will remain at the hearings office until the administrative law judge makes a decision on your disability claim. Once the administrative law judge has made their decision, the decision is written by hearing staff writers. When the written decision is completed, the hearings office will do one two things with your disability claim. If your disability claim is an approval it will be forwarded to the payment center to be processed. After the payment center has processed the hearing decision, you will receive an award letter to that outlines the amount of your monthly Social Security benefits as well as when you may expect to receive as your monthly Social Security benefits. Additionally, this award letter may discuss the amount of any potential back pay of benefits and when you may expect to receive them. If you filed a SSI claim only ,or a concurrent disability claim (both Social Security and SSI), the SSI portion of your disability claim will be sent back to your local Social Security office for processing. Due to the nature of the SSI program (i.e. need-based, program), your income and resources must be reviewed to determine if you are still eligible to receive SSI benefits. Some individuals may be determined to be medically disabled by Social Security, however their disability claim may still be denied because their income and/or resources are over the limits set forth by the Social Security Administration.
