ARE APPEALS ON SOCIAL SECURITY DISABILITY CLAIMS SUCCESSFUL ?

Yes and no. Reconsideration appeals have a success rate that can only be considered "abysmal". Nationally, in fact, the approval rate for such appeals seems to perpetually hover around fifteen percent.

Appeals that involve a disability hearing before a federal administrative law judge, however, have a significantly higher rate of success. Hearing appeals have a better than fifty percent approval rate. And the approval rate for hearings is much more successful when a disability claimant can provide a documented history (medical records from doctors and hospitals) of their disabling and have the assistance of an experienced and competent social security disability attorney.
