The answer to this question is very clear. If your disability claim is denied at any level of the social security disability or ssi disability process (initial application, reconsideration, alj hearing), good advice to follow is to file for the next available appeal immediately. The social security administration will always give a denied claimant sixty days in which to file an appeal after being denied for disability benefits. Moreover, the social security administration will also give each individual who has been denied an extra five days to account for mailing time. Filing a timely appeal after having been denied for disability is probably the best advice a person can take. Another piece of useful advice, however, is this: a disability claimant who has been denied should probably give serious consideration to seeking the assistance of an attorney who specializes in disability benefit claims.
