If you've filed a claim for social security disability or ssi disability benefits and have been told by the social security office that your file needs to be reconstructed, well, this is not a good thing. Essentially, this means that, for whatever reason, a disability applicant's file has been lost and a new file has to be created, or reconstructed. The most unfortunate aspects regarding situations like this have to do with the fact that 1. important records that may have been submitted by the disability applicant may be lost forever and 2. the claimant may no longer remember some of the information that was reported on the original application for ssd and/or ssi disability benefits.
