SSDI and ssi claimants who are approved for disability benefits and put on benefit receipt are ordinarily reviewed (for the purpose of determining if their medical condition warrants the continuation of benefits) every one, three, or seven years. Though some social security and ssi recipients will be discontinued, most, however, will have their disability benefits continued. This is because to be have one's ssdi or ssi disability benefits discontinued, social security (acting through disability determination services) must show, via a claimant's medical records, that medical improvement has taken place. Typically, this is a difficult thing to prove, especially since many claimant's conditions do not get better, but, rather, worsen over time.
