Medrol for the treatment of Gout

Information on how the drug medrol is used to treat gout

Gout is a painful medical condition resulting from high levels of uric acid in the blood, a waste product that, under normal circumstances, is removed from the body by the kidneys in the form of urine.

Because gout affects tendons and joints, causing pain, inflammation, and restrictions in range of movement, it is also known as "gouty arthritis".

Medrol, also known as methylprednisolone, is a corticosteroid that is sometimes prescribed to relieve the pain and inflammation associated with gout.

Medrol / methylprednisoline is also used to treat gout in patients who cannot take nonsteroidal antiflammatories, or colchicine.
