Individuals with osteoarthritis usually have chronic pain, loss of mobility, and stiffness. For most individuals, the pain has been described as a sharp ache or a burning sensation that is associated with the tendons and muscles. Joints may become swollen and filled with fluid. Osteoarthritis symptoms affect hands, fingers, feet, spine, hips and knees. Often an individual with osteoarthritis may develop bony growths known as Heverdin’s nodes or Bourchard’s nodes in smaller joints (fingers).
