Questions about Multiple Sclerosis - MS |
|
About forty percent of those diagnosed with MS suffer from pain. Studies suggest that the pain of MS may be due to the breakdown of myelin, the protective lining of the central nervous system. Many people with multiple sclerosis or MS suffer aching in their arms, legs and trunk area, while other MS patients suffer from a severe facial pain know as trigeminal neuralgia. Of course, in some instances the pain experienced by an MS patient may be due to reasons other than multiple sclerosis. If the pain is attributable to MS, there are some possiblities for treatment, such as the use of neurontin and tegretol (both anti-seizure medications).
