Questions about Multiple Sclerosis - MS |
|
Bladder and urinary tract problems affect approximately 70-80 percent of individuals with multiple sclerosis or MS. These individuals most often have bladder urgency and frequency of urination symptoms, although some may be subject to bladder hesitancy and nocturia. Bladder problems are usually the result of damage caused by lesions on the spinal cord; consequently, the storing and emptying functions of the bladder are most affected. The inability to properly store or empty the bladder may cause the urinary tract infections that are prevalent among individuals with multiple sclerosis.
