Headaches can be divided into muscle tension headaches and headaches for which the cause is an underlying medical condition. The vast majority of all headaches, of course, tend to be muscle tension headaches. Most of any given population will experience this type of headache from time to time. For individuals who have regularly occurring headaches, only about ten percent will suffer from headache pain as a result of an underlying medical problem, or organic cause.
