Apparently, the results of clinical trials have shown that ProDisc-L implants may be a good alternative to back fusions. The implantation of this device, versus fusion, seems to involve less time in the hospital, faster relief from pain, and quicker recovery from surgery. However, according to the Texas Back Institute, disc replacement may not be everyone and a proper evaluation should be done to determine if a patient is a suitable candidate for this type of surgery.
