Serotonin, a chemical neuro-transmitter in the brain, is found to exist in deficient levels in fibromyalgia patients. Low levels of this chemical substance may explain why fibromyalgia patients are beset with pain.
Interestingly enough, low levels of Tryptophan, a chemical substance similar to Serotonin (tryptophan is actually a precursor to serotonin), may help explain why so many people with fibromyalgia have trouble sleeping. |
