Stress is thought to aggravate the symptoms of fibromyalgia. However, "stress" can be defined in a number of different ways.
Typically, stress is thought of in a mental, or psychological, context. But stress can also be the result of physical factors. For example, loud noises, bright lights, and even certain odors have been found to influence and exacerbate the symptoms of certain individuals with FMS. Physical activity can also have the same effect and many fibromyalgia patients have reported that their condition typically worsens for a time following episodes of strenous physical activity. |
