TMJ is temporomandibular joint disorder and it is a condition that causes significant and persistent pain in the facial areas. There does seem to be a correlation with regard to the diagnosis of fibromyalgia and TMJ, otherwise referred to as bruxism (the night time grinding of teeth), but how the two conditions are connected is unclear.

However, TMJ or bruxism is thought to be related to higher levels of stress and anxiety, and, of course, both stress and anxiety are often mentioned with regard to fibromyalgia.
