There are many different symptoms for fibromyalgia and ten different people with fibromyalgia may potentially have ten different sets of symptoms. This reality and the fact that no single definitive cause has been found for FMS, makes this disorder particularly difficult to treat.
The most frequently occurring physical symptoms for fibromyalgia seem to be chronic and persistent pain, typically involving multiple tender points, tiredness and chronic fatigue, headaches, nausea, sleep difficulties, sleep apnea, stomach-digestive problems, morning stiffness, dizziness, swelling in certain extremities, and restless leg syndrome. The most frequently occurring mental symptoms of fibromyalgia (which may classfied as cognitive, psychiatric, or psychological) seem to be disorientation, confusion, short-term memory loss (all three of these symptoms fall under the heading of fibro fog), depression, anxiety, attention and concentration problems, and a more rapid than normal cycling of moods. |
