Children Carry Bipolar Disorder Into Adulthood

Many in the medical field are seeking to understand the mechanics of bipolar disorder. Up until recently it was thought to be a predominantly adult disorder, but now that children are being diagnosed with the disease, researchers are studying these children to find out more information. While some doctors believe that the bipolar children are being misdiagnosed, others are seeking to prove that children can have the disorder.

In the following article a new study points out that children with the disorder are growing into adults with the disorder. They believe it is quite possible that adults with the disorder also had the bipolar disorder as children, but were simply left undiagnosed. The results of the study point to what many are trying to prove: children with the disease become adults with the disease. As the article points out: it is important to allow the child diagnosis and work toward intervention and prevention tactics.
