New Drug Stimulates T-Cells and May Help Multiple Sclerosis
A new study published in the Proceeding of the National Academy of Sciences suggests that a new drug called FYAK stimulates the development of T-cells. This drug is a relative of Copaxone, a drug currently used to treat multiple sclerosis.
T-cells support the body’s immune system and have been shown to control three different auto immune diseases in mice. Since the drug generates t-cells, it is thought that the drug will able to treat multiple sclerosis and other auto immune diseases in humans.
Many health experts think that this new drug will be able to replace Copaxone and are suggesting that second and third generation drugs will come out of this information.
So far, the drug has only been tested on mice. Clinical trials with humans are scheduled to find out if FYAK is as powerful in humans.
