HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET AN ANSWER FROM A CE ?

This information may help claimants with representation, as well as claimants who are not represented by an attorney or non attorney representative. Understanding how the Social Security Disability system works can make the difference between winning or not winning the continuing disability benefits and backpay to which a person is entitled.

There's no real way to tell how long it will take for a written report of a CE exam to be received. Typically, CE doctors are advised to have their examination reports submitted within ten days of the date of the CE exam.

However, social security disability and ssi disability claimants who are curious about this should keep two facts in mind.

One: disability claimants do not receive a copy of the CE examination report. This is medical evidence that is considered to be the property of the social security administration (claimants can, however, ask that a copy of the CE exam report be sent to their personal physician). Two: Even after a CE exam report has been received, a case may still require additional processing. Such processing can include the gathering of additional medical records, quality review, or even the scheduling of additional consultative examinations.
