What do the results of a treadmill stress test and EKG or ECG mean?

|
As a disability examiner, I was fairly familiar with terminology such as echocardiograms, stress test, METS, and Bruce protocol. Knowing what the terms mean, however, and how to apply the data obtained from such testing to the adjudication of a disability claim still does not really allow one to know...what happens during a treadmill stress test, or during an ekg.

I've had both done before and so I think I understand more clearly what's involved. And I think that's true of a lot of things. Knowing by reading is not always as sufficient as knowing by experience.

I came across this site recently and I think it does a fairly good job of explaining several questions regarding treadmill testing and non-invasive imaging, such as "what else does the exercise ECG measure?", "What if I feel chest pain during an exercise ECG?", "What does a negative (normal) exercise ECG indicate?".

What is an exercise ECG or stress test?

Here's another article that I think provides some great information:

Never have a heart attack
