Angiography

Angiography is a means by which to visualize the heart and blood vessels. Angiograms are basically xrays performed after the injection of a radiopaque medium which contains iodine (in some individuals, iodine may cause an allergic reaction).

Angiography is used to help diagnose heart attacks (myocardial infarctions), vascular occlusions, embolisms, arterial stenosis, and arterial plaque buildup.
