Alpha waves, despite how the term sounds, are not some form of exotic space radiation. Alpha waves are actually one of the four types of brain waves (the other types of brain waves include beta waves, delta waves, and theta waves). Alpha waves are sometimes referred to as "the relaxed waves". They account for most brain wave patterns recorded on EEGs, or electroencephalograms and show up when a person is awake and relaxed with the eyes closed (the opening and closing of the eyes actually affects brain wave patterns). |
