Arthritis is an inflammatory and degenerative condition. The most common form is osteoarthritis which generally affects most people as they age and is the result of cumulative stress on joints. When ostearthritis affects the discs between the vertebrae, the resulting effect may be a pinched nerve. Another form of arthritis which is far less common is rheumatoid arthritis. Rheumatoid is not simply a wear and tear process that occurs concurrent with advanced age. Instead, it involves a rapid breakdown of joints and surrounding bone and is a disease process that can afflict an individual without regard to age. |
