Questions about Obesity |
|
Obesity is a term that is usually applied to a state in which a person is thirty percent or more above ideal body weight. The NIH (or national institutes of Health) defines obesity as being more than twenty percent above the ideal body weight for males, and thirty percent above the ideal body weight for females. Obesity was once given full consideration (by having its own listing in the impairment listing manual) by the social security administration as an impairment for which disability benefits might be approved. However, this was changed in recent years. |
